Liquitex Basics Course Texture Medium is made up different size acrylic particles giving structure and texture. Dries to a semi-gloss sand like finish that is highly flexible and adhesive. Will not chip or crack on canvas. Can be used alone, mixed into paint or over paint once dry. When applied thick bold 3D effects occur or apply thin giving the surface texture. Maintains colour adhesion, durability, and archival quality. Can be applied with a brush or knife. Thin with a small amount of distilled water. Customize your texture by mixing a variety of consistencies and ratios of paint to medium. Add small amounts until you build up to desired end result. To get a textured glaze mix with gloss fluid medium. Vigorous varnishing can lead to clouding or foaming. Spray varnish will give the best results.

Over paint with acrylic, oil, watercolour, graphite, or dry pastel once dry. Can be handled like clay. Maintains paint adhesion, durability and archival quality. To be used on non-flexible supports only. Best applied with a knife or tool. Make a tinted paste by mixing with colour. Build thin layers allowing them to dry in between for sculptural texture. Liquitex Basics Matte Varnish gives a matte finish and protects from dirt build up. Will dry to a clear, flexible, hard and non-tacky surface. Also increases colour saturation and brightness. Surface durability will be improved making it ready for shipping and exhibiting. Resists discoloration (yellowing and fogging) caused by humidity and heat. To be used on flexible or rigid supports. Interior or exterior use. Paint should be completely dry before applying varnish. Recommended wait time is a minimum of 72 hours up to 2 weeks depending on paint thickness. Apply in a well ventilated space that is dust and dirt free. Always varnish horizontally. Use a large soft brush. Stir gently. Use long even strokes covering the surface top to bottom while moving from one side to the other. Do not go over areas you may have missed. Leave to dry then re-varnish the area. Look for surface bubbles by checking all angles and even them out immediately. Apply three thin coats allowing three hours between each coat. Do not shake or vigorously over brush as that may cause a foggy, hazy look once dry. Do not use a roller or sponge brush to apply. Several thin coats are better than one thick coat to avoid brush marks, drips and cloudiness. Cloudiness can happen if you try to go back over areas. Do not attempt to remove once applied. Do not use with non-acrylic media.
